Singapore's population was 5.5 million in 2015, and all citizens lived in urban areas. The country generated 1.49 kg of waste per person per day, which totaled to 7.67 million tons of waste annually. Of this waste, 1.52 million tons were organic, and over 90% of it was collected. Singapore has been leading the way in waste-to-energy development in the region and aims to reduce the average daily waste sent to the Semakau landfill by 30%. The country has four waste-to-energy plants: Tuas (47.8 MW), Senoko (55 MW), Tuas South (132 MW), and Keppel Seghers Tuas Plant (KSTP) (22 MW), in addition to the Semakau Landfill. The largest waste-to-energy plant uses a moving grate system and can handle 4,300 tons of mixed MSW daily. Singapore has set a goal to achieve a 36% reduction in emission intensity by 2030, compared to 2005 levels. The country aims to have 3% of its total primary energy supply come from renewable sources by 2025 and 4% by 2030. However, limited land availability is a significant constraint, given the growing waste generation and technological options. Despite this, Singapore has made it a priority to invest in waste-to-energy (WtE) technology by implementing integrated waste management policies that prioritize waste reduction measures, followed by efforts to increase recycling rates. The discussion was joined by Mr. Thein Soe Min, and Ms. Thary Vorn, who shared invaluable insights on preparing youth for successful entrepreneurial ventures while aligning with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). She emphasized the collaborative effort required for successful smart city development. "Smart Cities development is not solely the responsibility of the government," she accentuated. Angkor Social Innovation Fellowship's "Future Forward" Workshop 

Geopolitics of mainland Southeast Asia is an area that is surrounded by arable lands, rivers, deltas, mountains, and valleys. The geopolitics areas made ASEAN countries focus on land economics during the past decades. However, due to having to share the Mekong rivers with China, the ASEAN countries have good relationships with China and have shifted their focus onto the blue economy. The incredible host of this training seminar was successfully conducted in Haikou, Hainan province of China; this is the perfect example of how youth can play significant roles in joint discussions on the blue economy and the marine ranching industry, as well as onsite lectures.&nbsp;&nbsp;ASEAN youth can significantly impact the blue economy's expansion during this training seminar. The fundamental concept of the blue economy for youth is understanding the blue economy and the relationships within countries. Moreover, the areas for cooperation include but are not limited to marine tourism, fisheries, and aquaculture. By engaging in initiatives in these areas, youth can help promote seafood trades, technology exchange, management upskilling in fishing aquaculture, aqua tourism, marine biodiversity preservation, and sustainable fishing; they can collectively ensure a sustainable future for the region.&nbsp;The Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) has allowed ASEAN youth to learn deeper and expand on communication and possible collaborations with relevant regional sectors. RCEP plays a significant role in economic growth and will continue to play an essential role in various ASEAN countries. According to the Chinese Academy of International Trade and Economic Cooperation, an analysis predicts that RCEP will boost ASEAN's GDP growth rate by 4.47% by 2035, with the GDP growth rate of the Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, and Vietnam increasing by more than 6%.&nbsp;Promoting and strengthening deeper economic integration and cooperation throughout the region and the blue economy intervention with the RCEP can give ASEAN youth more opportunities to engage in cross-border trade and investment and help the countries better understand their needs.&nbsp;Youth participation enables the creation of a resilient, comprehensive ASEAN community that thrives on the sustainable use of maritime resources and the growth of the blue economy because young people are so full of ideas, innovation, and energy.
